CHICAGO, IL. - The Centre for Advanced Property Economics (CAPE) announced the third in a series of symposia on Minerals, Water and Timber. The third symposium on Timber Valuation: “Seeing the Forest for the Trees” will be held at the Embassy Suites, 319 SW Pine Street, Portland, Oregon on Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2, 2006. The Timber Valuation Symposium will focus on “Governmental policies, regulations, codes, tariffs and taxation”, “Timber acquisitions, exchanges, valuation, litigation and consequences”, “Timber yields, products and environmental issues”, “Forensic timber analysis and natural disasters”, “Definitive research, education and practitioner’s perspectives”, and a variety of other issues facing the local, national and international timber industry.

Clark and Edwin “Ted” Baker were appointed unanimously to the Centre for Advanced Property Economics (CAPE) Board of Regents effective January 1, 2006. Mr. Clark from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was the past Chair of The Appraisal Foundation 2005 Board of Trustees and recognized international valuation expert. Mr. Clark has held numerous executive positions and offices with the government of Canada and worldwide appraisal organizations including the United Nations and the World Appraisal Valuation Organization (WAVO).

Mr. Baker a resident of Maryland is the past Executive Vice President for the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and the past Executive Director of the Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC). Mr. Baker was also the Valuation Chief of the Office of Single Family Housing, U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Prior to his involvement with the ASA, he was a private community consultant, and Vice-President of Planning and Design with the Rouse Company.
